How powerful should magic be, in my opinion it shouldn't really be very strong.
A sword and gun battle actually involves some skill but going.

OMGWTFBBQDEATHSUPERHADDOUKEN is just a bit silly.
So I think magic should be weak.
Healing, setting fire to things, cooling down, transfiguration and then making magical spells can do things aswell which are a lot stronger.

Agreed, Magic shouldn't be like Harrypottersupermegaawesomeness. However, besides that fact I think we need to let the people make up their own powers/spells/magic as long as it doesn't get overly stupid.

that may lead to a super powerful world ending spell, which could prove interesting for players but could get out of control

That's why I said "as long as it doesn't get stupid" and I did say I agree on the lower levels of magic.

meh I guess making spells could be acceptable but I think we should have a thread with a list of acceptable spells in it

We should be allowed to make our own spell but we need some sort of rules to weaken the spell.

the commonly accepted rp rules (no overpowered chars. etc) can take care of magic getting out of hand.

No one Gms anymore (at least on roleplayer guild) they play players but they double too so I guess it works

PW is going to require some serious GM guidance.

Yeh but what i'm thinking about is actually making magic something people can stand up to it.
Instead of fireballs and visible effect, it should be allow telekenisis, healing and hurting.

Yep and most of us are going to be GM's, hope you know. Since we're the only people here right now and the first ones to give ideas we'll be the ones GMing a lot of the [Poo].

Edit by hex, don't bypass the word filter.

The players will bring their skills in both their character and in their writing. A bad writer with awesome character power will almost always lose to an awesome writer with a magically weak character.

Let the cards fall where they will. Micro managing every aspect will give you a headache and ruin the fun. People see a big list of cans and cannots they are going to run away.

Well jellys system seems to be, the better writer you are, the more powerful you are.

I don't want people using magic because theres the option to, it always happens in roleplays :L

It would be a whole lot easier if you just stuck to buff magic
