My idea is that the world be split up into sections, all with different themes.
The West part of the world could be all Steampunk technology.
The South could be all Cyberpunk/Super Futuristic with high-tech advanced technology
The East could be all Classical Fantasy-- Castles and dragons, non-modern technology, forests filled with all kinds of unknown species, ect (Think, Jurrasic Park kinda!)
And the North could be Modern with modern technology like we have today, maybe just slightly set in the future, or maybe in the past.
And everyone would be aware of these different parts of the planet, it's not like everyone thinks "Steampunk" or whatever is the only thing out there-- all characters would be fully aware that there are different parts of the planet they are not acustomed to.
If we did it this way, there'd be plenty for all audiences, and we could have epic tales of people traveling across the world to get to different places.
